This Saturday morning, the appointment was given to all volunteers wishing to participate in the Ocean Initiatives. At the call of the Surfrider Foundation and the City of Meyzieu. Thirty volunteers were on the river of the Canal Jonage, for fill a dump of waste. Thank you to all volunteers and see you next year …

The changing is thus ensured by the team of the young people of the “Grand Large” trained with result by Jean-Philippe Chatel. To note the nice performance from Stephanie, 4eme at the french championship less than 18 years old and Louis, vice champion of Mediterranean Tour this year… See the result of girls championship

Marco Copello a déniché une nouvelle forme de carbone (le damier visible sur la planche de la photo). C’est un produit incroyable, cela reste du carbone classique, ses qualités viennent de son tissage (Uni-directionnel Croisé) et les plus produits sont : une esthétique de fou !!! (damier en reflet sous glaçage), nécessite moins de résine (30% environ), gain de poids, une excellente rigidité. Et du coup un rapport poids/rigidité/solidité excellent ! Il équipe nos toutes récentes planches concepts Slalom Bioflex 203cm (photo).

Résultat plus de 17 sac poubelles de 100 litres ont été bien remplis. Hallucinant selon certains bénévoles… de quoi se rendre compte que meme sur un spot relativement épargné, les macro déchets gagnent du terrain… Agissons vite !!! Il est made in Italy et doté de nouveaux clips (double Pin) évidés, pour qu’ils ne coincent plus avec le sable (que j’ai surnommé l’Anti Sand System)… !!! :) Une toute nouvelle poignée avant plus robuste…

Monty Spindler le designer de génie et fondateur de LOFT SAILS, nous en dit un peu plus sur les nouveaux modèles 2010… très intéressant pour les bilingues :

Monty Spindler the incredible designer and founder of LOFT SAILS, says to us a little more on the 2010 new models… very interressant:

“The Lip is hardcore regarding construction- full kevlar foot and leech panels, triple overlapping panels that form two integrated 2plys that radiate from the clew (http://www.loftsails.com/kam_pages/1/e/412.php). The Lip is slightly flatter in profile than the Wavescape, and includes our Sensitip.

The Wavescape is built without kevlar and has a singlar clew radial. It is lighter, and designed slightly fuller than the Lip.

In simple terms, the Lip is sideshore-optimized, the Wavescape onshore optimized. Both are designed to be trim-reactive. Both include our Adjustable Outhaul. The Loft AO is an extremely under-rated item! I always use it! Many slalom/freeride windsurfers are fully into it! Many wave guys do not- which I do not understand! It is as if they believe wind conditions do not change when on wave gear! The AO is the easiest way to EXPAND one`s wind range. YES, a visit to the beach to adjust the outhaul is an option- but most of us are too busy windsurfing to do that! The AO allows the rig to adapt! It makes trimming before you launch less critical, and it makes each session more fun!

The Loft 2010 Blades remain dedicated to rdm masts- as they are this year. Blades are designed specifically for rdms. Although this voids the warranty- should one rig their Blade on a sdm (if the cams are changed, and one takes extreme care (there are parameters specific to each mast type- which is why rigging with sdms voids the Blade warranty)), our tests have proven conclusively that Blades perform best on rdm masts. Blades are our dedicated high-end competition design, so we do not compromise!- Blades are rdm-specific!

The Loft 2010 Switchblades are designed with different parameters compared to our Blades, and include both rdm and sdm Tekcams in the sail bag- so that both rdm and sdm mast types are compatible.

The Loft 2010 Blade FRs (12.5, 11.8, 11.0) are also compatible with both rdms and sdms. All Blade FRs are 4-cam designs, they include 7 cams each- the lower 3 cams are sdms « out-of-the-bag », the 3 rdm cams are in the sail bag (the upper cam works with both mast types and is not changed).

Blade FRs are recommended to be used with Loft Team Edition rdm masts! On LTE rdms the Blade FRs work better, and are more friendly than when rigged on sdm masts. On our LTE rdms, the rotation ease must be experienced to be believed! http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x9vb0p … 7-rotation

The LTE masts are resistant! Sdms and their thin walls do not react well to cam pressure- sdms can de-form under high cam pressure, and so are much more likely to break compared to rdms.

Changing cams is easy- with our new 2010 Tekcam system no spacers are needed- just change the cams and the mast!

Switchblades and Blade FRS work better on rdms, but we have to install the sdm cams in the factory (not the recommended rdm cams) because the Tekcam rdm cam is longer than the Tekcam sdm cam; should a client rig their 2010 Switchblade or Blade FR with the rdm cams installed & sdm mast, there is an incompatiblility issue: way too much cam pressure on the mast!.

If one rigs with the sdm cams (shorter) and an rdm mast (reduced diameter), the cams are very free- which makes for a very soft situation, but not a risk for rig damage.

Our new 2010 Tekcam system is an industry first!: rdm/sdm mast interchangability, out-of-the-bag!

Tekcams are simple! There are some incredibly complicated and heavy cam systems on the market- prone to breaking.

Our new Tekcams, with our industry-first MCIs (Metallic Cam Interfaces), our exclusive Blade mast pocket technology, and our Kevlar Strip construction… combine to re-define cammed rigs! These items are real design features that arguably place The Loft at the leading edge of modern windsurfing rig design!

Un grand bravo à notre Ludo qui au terme de la saison AFF à été sacré Champion de France Overall, lui qui avait fait un retour très remarqué sur la première épreuve, n’a rien lâché au volant de ses LOFTSAILS !!! Le top waterman Français Baptiste Gossein à été blessé, lors d’une session de surf sur son Home Spot d’adoption de Teahupoo. Blessé grièvement au dos il a été hospitalisé d’urgence… Courage mon baptiste et prend soin de toi… remets toi vite sur pied pour continuer à nous faire rêver !!!

Greg Out… Après une grosse collision en Windsurf au Grand Large avec un slalomer au taquet qui n’a, heureusement, que croisé son pied avant… Résultat : une grosse frayeur, trois points de suture au niveau du tendon d’Achille, les tendons bien torturés et de belles contusions sur le pied pour Greg… Six semaines de rééducation et c’est reparti…

Greg Out… After a big collision in Windsurf with a slalom guys… Fortunately, his fin’s crossed its foot before… Result: a big fear, three stitches on the level of the Achilles’ tendon, tendon little bit damage and enormous contusions on the foot for Greg… Six weeks of rehabilitation and it set out again…

On a testé pour vous avec mon compère Mr Nico Odin, ce qui sera, en tout cas pour nous, l’engin de l’été… Super adapté pour le “crusing“ dans les petits airs, après une toute petite prise en main : ça déboule, ça jibe… Belles petites sessions en perspectives !

Marco et moi-même vous souhaitons une excellente année 2009, avec on l’espère encore beaucoup de vent, de vagues et surtout de nouveaux “boards concepts” DPA !!! Une excellente année à tous…!!!

De nouveaux harnais arrivent chez Pat love… C’est encore des produits de très grande qualité que j’ai reçu, tout droit sorti des labos R&D de mon partenaire, voici les nouveaux GATOR et IRON ! Ma première impression à été que le niveau de finition sur ces deux modèles a encore augmenté (thermoform plus souple mais pas mou, petite bande lycra sur tout le tour pour éviter les irritations…). ils ont un look de fou, notamment le Iron avec sa couleur métal légèrement pailleté. Sur l’eau, on a là, deux fauteuils “Chesterfield”, le confort est vraiment au RDV, une bonne protection lombaire mais toujours avec un encombrement réduit, de quoi envoyer gras ! :)

En cette période estivale, le vent du Sud nous honore de sa présence sur Lyon, nous permettant de profiter de belles conditions et surtout de tester la LOFT Sails 360 FREE en 6,5m2 dans une configuration Light Wind… Elle se montre ultra nerveuse et équilibrée. Une nouvelle parution pour Greg dans le Planchemag de ce mois de Mai…

Marco : “Après un moment d’absence suite à quelques problèmes techniques (j’ai toujours été meilleur aux rabots qu’aux claviers…). La présence de CoCo alias Coline Figliolini (une larve mangeuse de chocolat) dans la même maison n’est pas de nature à facilité la chose… mais le site www.copello-shape.com est de retour…”

Le site de “loft sails” nous accueille par une première galerie, en l’occurrence celle de mon trip à tarifa… Où rencontres avec Monty dans son loft et sessions avec Ludo Jossin se sont succédées…

Après trois ans chez SEVERNE Sails (j’en profite pour remercier toute l’équipe de Severne France qui m’a beaucoup soutenue)… Je passe en ce début de saison 2008 chez “LOFT SAILS” et suis très heureux de naviguer avec les fameuses voiles de Monty Spindler. Un grand merci à Michel, Monty ainsi que le team Loft pour leur accueil très chaleureux… Plus d’infos très bientôt et les photos des premiers tests à Tarifa.

Le 21 Janvier dernier, les conditions étant propices, Francky et moi-même avons décidé “d’ouvrir” le spot d’Hookipa en Tandem. Du jamais vu d’après les locaux présents sur ce spot du North shore de Maui dont la réputation n’est plus à faire… une bonne partie de rigolade sur une Stand Up Paddle boards (SUP) de Sean Ordonnez, aménagé par ses soins… Merci à Francky pour cette bonne Session !!! Yes !!! Les conditions sont enfin de retour sur le North shore de Maui et annoncées pour toute la semaine qui arrive. On commence aujourd’hui avec une petite session à little bay avec les autres frenchys installés ici : Francky (Maui Connection !!!), Laurent (Lyonnais Expatrié…) et Jérome (Stagiaire à la Water Lily Farm). Plus de photos très bientôt…

Les conditions devraient être au rendez-vous cette fin de semaine sur Maui… l’occasion de tester ces deux tous nouveaux protos (a gauche Freemove Bioflex, a droite la nouvelle freestyle) qui affichent sur le papier un potentiel de fou… a bientôt pour plus de news ainsi qu’une revue de détails…

Pour notre premier jour à Maui, les conditions météo n’étant pas très favorables, on prend nos quartiers tranquillement chez Baptiste Gossein et déballons les boardbags… a priori le retour du vent est prévu dans les prochains jours…

Plus que cinq jours et départ pour Mauï, au programme 3 semaines pour une séance d’entraînement hivernal… Test de ma nouvelle FreeMove “Bioflex” tout juste sorti de l’atelier de Marco Copello et d’un nouveau concept de planche de freestyle… On vous tiens au jus.

Les nouveaux ailerons Cross et Slalom MICROFIN sont arrivés et annonce la couleur… Ces deux modèles ont été spécialement designer pour Freemove BIOFLEX qui sortira d’ici une petite semaine…

Greg, de retour de Marie-galante nous revient marqué par la beauté de l’île et la gentillesse des locaux qui l’on accueillis… Séduit aussi par la mode capillaire antillaise ??? A venir bientôt les photos du trip…

Plus qu’une petite journée et départ pour Marie-Galante, au programme 10 jours de nav’ en freestyle dans l’eau turquoise des lagons locaux… (avec 20 nœuds de vent annoncé à la météo locale). On vous tiens au jus.

Le week-end dernier se déroulait “la fête du nautisme” sur la base du Grand Large et l’ASPTT Lyon Voile. Cette dernière, signe un nouveau record, puisque plus de 1200 personnes ont pu effectuer un baptême gratuit sur tout les supports voile disponibles. Greg et tout le Team Dropzone étaient présents en partenariat avec Starboard et Severne sur leur stand et ont pu partager avec vous un grand moment de la voile et du Windsurf Lyonnais l’espace de ces 2 jours. Un grand bravo à tous les bénévoles qui ont fait preuve d’une implication totale et contribué à ce que cet événement soit un succès…

Ce week-end a lieu la Fête du Nautisme, événement National qui a pour but de promouvoir et de faire découvrir au public toutes sortes d’activités nautiques. L’ASPTT Lyon Voile et La Base du Grand Large seront évidemment de la partie et vous proposerons des baptêmes de windsurf, catamaran, habitable… tout le week-end du 13 & 14 Mai 2006 à partir de samedi 14h00… Je vous retrouverai sur place…!!! Pour plus d’infos, rdv sur le site de la base de voile

La firme Microfin ne cesse d’avancer et s’attaque à de nouvelles lames de Slalom. Fort de son expérience dans le domaine, Franck innove encore une fois… et me permet de vous dévoiler les nouveaux ailerons de Slalom. Des lames au profil atypique qui risquent de faire parler d’elles sur les runs et autres parcours de Slalom 42… Je teste tout ça au plus vite et vous fait part de mes impressions.

L’Asptt Lyon Voile basé sur la base de voile du Grand-Large est repartie pour une nouvelle saison pleine d’animations, de vent… et de quelques événements dont je vous ferai part prochainement. N’hésitez pas à vous renseigner auprès de Yves Guillet et toute son équipe pour profiter de cet endroit magique à seulement 20 km du centre de Lyon. Les nouveaux ailerons de vague de MicroFin sont arrivés… Je les ai testés à Maui… Avec leur têtes carrés et leur section acéré, ils affichent tout de suite la couleur, ces ailerons sont des machines à carving, il vous conféreront stabilité et vitesse au bottom. On a un bon compromis rigidité/souplesse qui donne une bonne nervosité sans dégrader le confort.
